Kamala Harris: The Timeline
Now that Kamala Harris has rapidly become the presumed Democratic nominee for president, many people have been discussing her biography and record. Here I offer a simple graphic to keep track of where she lived and what jobs she has held over the years. Your welcome.
For much of the discussion of policies she pursued in various government positions, it is useful to understand the times that they were occurring. For instance, it is relevant that her term as California Attorney General occurred while the US was recovering from the housing crash and Great Recession.
For readability, I spread out the timeline among 3 separate columns, with [approximate] year marked at left and her age at right. This roughly breaks down into childhood, young[ish] adulthood, and her recent career. I chose to make the time interval of the graph the same in all three columns which means there is extra white space in two columns so that the different periods in her life fit evenly.
